HOA Insights Case Study
THE FASTEST GROWING
HOA PODCAST
THE PROBLEM
After Association Reserves successfully staged themselves as a leading reserve study provider and HOA educator through traditional online webinars, they knew podcasts were the new frontier in education and engaging video content.
Other HOA teams were already building audiences on podcast platforms, so Association Reserves needed strategic planning and production to be the #1 source for HOA professionals.
Stoke Light developed a complete production plan, supporting gear setup, recording, editing, and final file delivery for each episode.
We optimized the content for both podcast platforms and YouTube, launching a high-quality show titled “Common Sense for Common Areas”.
Our team also leveraged their existing email list and partnered on email marketing strategy, refining copy to help the hosts reach a wider audience of listeners and viewers.
THE RESULTS
Our monthly average while posting weekly consistently topped 2,000 downloads and listens - well over our monthly KPI of 1,000!
ONE MORE PROBLEM...
At the start of the podcast, only 20% of total downloads came from podcast directories such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The majority of downloads were driven solely by email campaigns.
Listeners were not able to find the show organically. “Common Sense for Common Areas” did not appear in search results for the keyword “HOA,” and ranked as low as 33rd for “Community Association”— well below the range where users typically discover and select podcasts.
We needed a way to beat their competition organically.
THE FINAL PLAN
SEO Analysis
After researching competitors in the HOA podcast space and investigating how people were searching for HOA content, we landed on a new podcast name: “HOA Insights: Common Sense For Common Areas”.
Visual Revamp
A few months later, we also introduced a complete revamp of the podcast’s YouTube thumbnails to encourage more clicks.
THE NEXT YEAR
HOA Insights’ total Downloads & Views soared from 26,621 in 2023 to 40,074 in 2024.
That's a 50.6% year-over-year growth!
In 2024, the monthly average listens rose from 550-600 to 698 in 2024. A 15-25% increase in average listens and views per episode.
Across platforms, we consistently achieved placement in the Top 25%-10% of all podcasts, with many episodes ranking even higher. According to industry standards: More than 121 downloads puts it in the top 25% and more than 478 downloads puts it in the top 10% of podcasts.
